Info for your charter

What to bring with you

BRING A CAMERA: There are many opportunities to use it on your  charter. If you miss a shot chances are good that someone else took it. JACKETS/RAINGEAR: Check the forecast before heading to the lake. Even if it looks good, weather can turn so bring a jacket and some rain gear just in case. Regardless, Mega Bites has an enclosed hardtop to help keep you dry. NON-SLIP SHOES: My boat has a non-slip deck but it is always a good idea to wear boat shoes or athletic shoes to help keep you on your feet. But please, NO HARD BLACK SOLES!

There’s more to remember

FOOD: I only serve food on my executive trips so it's incumbent on the customer to bring their own sandwiches and snacks, plus drinks and especially water. No glass bottles or containers please. I have room for your cooler and food/drink. SUNCREEN: Most people are prone to sunburn and this is why it is important to bring a bottle. If you forgot, tell the captain. Sunscreen is always available on the boat. BRING A COOLER to hold your fish but leave it in your vehicle until you return. I have a large ice chest on board for the fish. My fishing gear and lures are available to use at no extra cost but if you bring your own rods and reels I suggest a medium action, six-foot rod and reel, spooled with 10-pound test line. I prefer braided line. WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DON'T SHOW UP FOR YOUR CHARTER? Nothing. I won't be happy of course, but you forfeit your deposit and other monies you paid. CAN YOU HELP WITH LODGING? I am more than happy to help customers find suitable lodging near the dock. Just ask. When a charter is booked I send out information that includes the names and phone numbers of places to stay. IF WE LIMIT BEFORE THE DAY IS UP WHAT HAPPENS? Most of the time customers are happy to go in, get their fish cleaned and head home. Fish cleaning often takes more than an hour. But others may want to keep fishing on a catch-and-release basis. Fishing for a second species, though, increases the charter fee to the combo rate as we must use different lures and bait and travel to another area.

Handicapped anglers

Mega Bites Charters is handicapped accessible and all handicapped fishermen are most welcome. However, I require wheelchairs have locking wheels for stability when the lake is choppy. Or, the individual can bring along a deck chair to sit in while on the boat. The chair must have rubber cups on the legs to prevent slipping. Limit of two wheelchairs or deck chairs per outing. Perch trips are perfect for those who are chair bound.
